Chinese President Hu Jintao on Tuesday ended his five-day state visit to
Brazil and left for Argentina to continue his four-nation Latin American trip.
During his stay in Brazil, President Hu held talks with his Brazilian
counterpart Luis Inacio Lula da Silva and met other leaders of the country. They
exchanged views on deepening bilateral cooperation and the two sides signed a
number of cooperation agreements.
Hu also visited Brazil's largest city, Sao Paulo, and the second largest
city, Rio de Janeiro.
Brazil is China's major trading partner in Latin America. Last year, trade
between the two countries amounted to 7.98 billion US dollars, a 78 percent
increase over the previous year. During the first eight months of this year, the
bilateral trade volume reached 8 billion dollars.
Brazil is the first leg of Hu's four-nation Latin American trip.He will also
visit Chile and Cuba. In Chile, Hu will attend the Economic Leaders' Meeting of
the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation(APEC) slated for Nov. 20-21.
