The General Administration of Civil Aviation of China (CAAC), China's
aviation watchdog, decided to ground CRJ aircraft, Monday.
CAAC called for a thorough inspection of these aircraft and asked related
airline companies to modify their flights to ensure passenger safety. China has
nearly 20 CRJ aircraft owned by seven different airline companies.
A CRJ-200 flight with China Eastern Airline crashed one minute after taking
off from Baotou to Shanghai Sunday. All passengers and cabin crew died in the
accident.
