In the wake of the crash, China Eastern Airlines has set up an emergency
team at its headquarters in Shanghai to help deal with the aftermath, CCTV.com
reported Monday.
Here at China Eastern Airlines' new plane operation center, news of the plane
crash came Sunday morning.
The ice-covered lake swallowed the 53 people on board seconds after the China
Eastern commuter plane took off from Baotou en route to Shanghai.
On behalf of the airline, spokesman Li Jiang expressed the deepest
condolences to the families of the victims and outlined the plan of action.
Li Jiang said: "This is our emergency plan to deal with the matter. Five
working teams from China Eastern have been dispatched to Baotou. Top airline
officials are at the site now. We've made the relevant information public and
will continue to do so."
Li said the plane, a Bombardier CRJ-200, had been recently bought by China
Eastern's Yunnan Branch.
The airline has given the relatives of the victims a contact number.
Some of the relatives are staying at this hotel.
With a sad reunion awaiting them in Baotou, this must be a sleepless night
for them. Enditem
