Floods and landslides killed at least 11 people in Taiwan Province yesterday and caused property loss estimated at more than 1.1 billion Taiwan dollars (US$35 million). Continuous heavy rain in central and southern parts of Taiwan caused landslides or floods, killing seven more people following the death of four people on Wednesday. According to the Hong Kong Commercial Broadcasting Co Ltd, nearly 90 schools were closed in several towns on the island.
