Women's soccer tournament at the 10th National Games reeled off here Wednesday with lop-sided matches.

Sichuan beat Hubei 2-0 in Group A. Attacking midfielders Chen Hua and Su Chaozhen found the net apiece in the 24th and 71st minutes while Hubei had few chances in attacks.

Couch Li Xiaofeng said the first win was "decisive" for his team's next games. "I am satisfied with the performance of our players. Now we feel less passive (in Group A) with the win," Li told Xinhua.

Zhang Ouying, the silver medal laureate of 1998 women's World Cup, became the decisive member as her ninth-minute goal helped Hebei for a 1-0 victory over the Chinese Army. The army team dominated for most of the play time but failed to score.

"It was not easy (to win)...the two teams are at the same level," said Zhang.

Zhang's teammates displayed their solid defense skills and succeeded in holding back attacks of their rivals.

"We will play better in the following matches," she added.

In the meetings of Group C, Shanghai crushed Henan 4-0. Midfielder You Jia initiated the scoring spree in the 10th minute. Teammate Zhang Ying enlarged the advantage to 2-0 at 28 minutes before Chen Jinyu and Xi Dingying combined for another pair of goals in the second half.

However, host Jiangsu had to take the 2-1 defeat against Guangdong as forward Xu Qiaoqin scored twice for the visitors. Wang Yihang slammed home once in the 66th minute.

In the city of Yixing, Liaoning edged Tianjin 1-0 in Group B through forward Han Duan. In another match of the group, Beijing won over Shandong 2-0 with forward Liu Sa and midfielder Liu Ying each scoring a goal.
