Zhejiang rowers claimed the title of women's lightweight quadruple sculls at
the rowing tournament of the 10th Chinese National Games in Nanjing on
Friday.
Zhejiang displayed their strength with a time of 6:28.05 to take their second
rowing gold at the Games. China's traditional rowing giants Guangdong trailed
behind to settle for the silver in6:31.35, while the bronze medal went to Fujian
in 6:32.32.
"We have been training really hard in the past few years. We didn't exert
much energy to win the title," said Yan Shiming, a member of the Zhejiang team,
as well as a rower for the Chinese national team.
"This is one of the most important disciplines for China to win the champions
at the Olympic Games, and I hope we can fight for a gold in 2008 with my
teammates."
Yan won a gold for China in the women's lightweight single sculls in the
World Cup in England this May, and has kept her goodform recently.
