The archery events of the 10th Chinese National Games raised the curtain in
Nanjing on Sunday and those archers with Olmpic experiences have shown good
forms in the ranking round.
Zhang Juanjuan, silver medalist of the women's team events at the Athens
Olympics, finished on top of the individual standings for Shandong team with 657
points after 72 shots, in which 25 arrows hit the bulleye. Her Olympic teammate
He Ying from Jilin attained 654 points and ranked fourth with 28 shots in the
bulleye.
Another famous Chinese female archer Lin Sang from Fujian was troubled by her
shoulder injury and got merely 643 points.
"I tried hard but the pain on the shoulder affected my performance. I am not
satisfied with the results and the two youngarchers are too nervous," said Lin
Sang, pointing to her unfledged teammates who led to their awful team results at
13th.
Shangdong had the say in the female events. Apart from Zhang Juanjuan, Zhang
Nina's 655 points and Yu Hui's 650 points, they became the biggest winners at
the team event with a total score of1,962 points. Jilin and Beijing finished
second and third with 1,950 and 1,939 points respectively.
In the men's events, Guangdong showed strong strength, finishing first in
both the individual and team events. Deng Wenwei fired 665 points after 72 shots
with 30 arrows at the bulleye, and with his other teammates good form, Guangdong
notched1,954 points together to overwhelm in the team event.
Xue Haifeng, national team archer with Athens Olympics experience, acquired
662 points to finish second in the men's individual standings.
However, another veteran archer Yong Fujun from Shaanxi did notdo well. The
national individual total score record holder at the final (338 points out of 36
arrows) had a mediocre 643 points to rank 20th.
