World No. 1 Zhang Yining of Beijing turned Monday the table around by winning the last three sets to beat world Grand Prix paddler Wang Nan of Liaoning 4-3 in the table tennis women's singles final at the 10th Chinese National Games.

Zhang, who lost 3-2 to Wang after leading by 2-0 in the finals of last version of the tournament in 2001, took the revenge with a6-11, 11-6, 8-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-9 victory.

"I lost the first set and trailed in the game. And I came back to win the game. It's almost a typical game in the Games. I didn't feel depressed when trailing 3-1," Zhang said.

"I'm not upset. It's a perfect game," said the 26-year-old Wang."I've played like this for over a year. This is the best tournament for me for the past 2-3 years."

Rumors said Wang would retire after the Games due to her disappointing performance after crashed out of the singles quarter-finals at last year's Athens Olympics.

"I'll play for my club at the Super League after the Games. I have no decision (on retirement)," Wang said.

Wang took a quick lead at 3-1 and a slight lead on the fifth set. Zhang held onto her power strikes to level the game.

Tying at 7-7 in the seventh set, Zhang won two crucial points to make it 9-7 and the first singles gold medal at the Games.
