Hebei's Li Meiju Monday made a successful return to the field after being
sidelined for a long time by injury, claiming the women's shot put championship
at the 10th National Games with a throw of 18.88 meter.
"I've been too nervous in my first three throws under the pressure of
defending National Games title here," said Li.
"Then I told myself that keeping in tense would never help me in attempting
for the gold, and it did work," she added.
Liaoning's Li Ling, who was beaten by Li Meiju to the second place at this
year's national championships, again lost to the 26-year-old Hebei native at the
National Games in 18.68 meters.
Qian Chuanhua from Jiangsu granted another bronze medal for thehost
delegation with a best throw of 18.58 meters.
