Chen Mingfu strived for the gold of men's 10,000 meter race at the 10th the 10th National Games in Nanjing yesterday.

The 20-year-old Chen clocked a time of 28 minutes and 16.40 seconds, giving Yunan its first athletic gold at the National Games.

Du Pengyuan from Guangdong was second in the 25-lap race, timing at 28:29.37.

Chen's teammate Han Gang finished third at 28:35.73.
