Liu Feiliang, national record holder of men's pole vault event, won the event
with a clearance of 5.60 meters at the 10th National Games Tuesday evening.
The pole vault event was supposed to be a tense combat featuring Liu
Feiliang, who holds the record at 5.70 and former national mark holder Zhang
Hongwei.
However, 20-year-old Liu dominated the event lasting almost four hours on
Tuesday evening. The hopeful from Shandong managed to pass the bar 5.60 meter,
leaving his teammate Yang Yansheng far behind at 5.45 meters.
Yang, 30, took the silver and Zhang Hongwei from the Chinese Army grabbed the
bronze at 5.40 meters.
