China's trampoline giant Fujian dominated the qualification round Tuesday at
the 10th National Games, with both its men's and women's team entering the
finals in first place and most of its top players making the final.
The star-studded Fujian men's team, comprising the world trampoline
championships team gold winning trio of Cue Zhicheng, Liu Qipeng and Ye Shuai,
took the first place with a total score of 277.30 points at ease.
Host Jiangsu was second in 274.75 points, and Shanxi men's teamtrailed in
third place with 272.15 points.
The Fujian women's team, led by Athens Olympics bronze medallist Huang
Shanshan, echoed their male counterparts' victory by snatching the women's team
first place with 259.75 points. Guangdong came second and Zhejiang third.
Huang Shanshan, entered the women's individual final with the top place at
69.20 points. Luo Dan, from Hunan Province, finished second at 66.65 points and
Li Dan, of Guangdong Province, came third in 65.95 points.
Fujian's Liu Qipeng, a member in the gold winning Chinese men'steam at the
Eindhoven championships, advanced to the men's individual final as the top
player. Ye Shuai, from Fujian too, entered the final in second place.
But Que Zhicheng, also in the gold winning Chinese men's team at Eindhoven,
Netherlands, failed to make the final as he failed in the second routine and hit
the mat side, scoring only 2.10 points.
A total of 15 teams and 160 players competed in the qualifications. Only the
top eight teams and top 10 individuals will advance to the finals.
