National champion Zhang Shufeng took the gold of men's high jump but failed
to reach his goal of 2.30 meters at the 10th Chinese national Games on
Wednesday.
The 20-year-old Zhang from Heilongjiang is a promising high jumper in China
as he pocketed the gold at this year's National Championships and grabbed a
bronze for China at the 2005 Asian Championships.
Although the young athlete only managed to get across a height of 2.24 meters
on Wednesday as he came to Nanjing targeting the height of 2.30 meters, the
result is enough for him to claimed thevictory.
The second placer Liang Tong's result was 0.03 meter behind Zhang. The
27-year-old Liang from Beijing was the bronze medallist at the last edition of
the National Games.
Huang Haiqiang brought Zhejiang a bronze by 2.18 meters.
