Defending champion Shen Shengfei won the first gold medal for Zhejiang in the
women's heptathlon event at the 10th Chinese National Games on Wednesday with a
total of 6,165 points.
The second-placed Liu Haili of Liaoning fell forward to kiss the ground just
one step further after touching the finish line first in the 800 meters running,
the last race for women's heptathlon, but failed to seized the title with an
overall points of 6,132.
Shen Shengfei has finished top in all the field competitions of heptathlon,
the women's high jump, shut put, long jump and javelin throw, while Liu the best
on the track, the women's 100m hurdles, 200m and 800m running.
Hainan's Wang Hailan, finishing the third at last edition of the National
Games four years ago in Guangdong, took the bronze medal again on 6,128 points.
