Triple Asian title holder Li Rongxiang made a successful defending run to his
National Games championship here on Wednesday, winning the second athletics gold
for Zhejiang by earning the best result in the men's javelin throw.
Li, 33, was crowned with a throw of 81.06 meters, long from catching up with
the national record of 84.29m set by himself at the National Athletics Grand
Prix five years ago in Chengdu.
Shanghai's Chen Qi clinched the silver medal with 78.99m, whileLiu Yanhong of
Henan finished third in 77.09m.
Minutes before the veteran ensuring his victory in the men's javelin throw,
Shen Shengfei has won the first track and field gold medal of the 10th National
Games for Zhejiang with a top finish in the women's heptathlon with a total
points of 6165.
