Zhou Jiawei from Guangdong lowered the national record by 0.39 seconds to
defend the title of men's 100m butterfly swimming here on Wednesday, clocking
52.81 seconds.
Wu Peng from Zhejiang also renewed the national record with a time of 53.10
seconds to finish second and Jin Hao from Shandong was third 1.06 seconds
behind.
Wu Peng had collected four golds and one silver before the event. "I was
satisfied with my time today. 100m butterfly was notmy event and I got my best
time improved by half a second, " said Wu, who had set his goal at five golds in
the National Games.
"I got no pressure over the races now and I feel much relaxed as the races
go. I probably can not collect five golds as I expected, but I would have a try
tommorrow," he said.
With two more events -- 1500m free and 4x100m medley relay on Thursday, Wu
Peng is still on way to reach his aim of five golds in the games.
