Yuan Aijun of Jiangsu claimed the 85kg-category gold medal in the men's weightlifting atthe ongoing National Games on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old Yuan, who finished fourth in the Athens Games, hoisted 172.5kgs and jerked up 207.5kgs for a winning total of 380kgs, 7.5kgs more than that in Athens.

In his last lift, Yuan failed to better the jerk world record of 218kg with an attempt against 220kgs.

Lu Yong of Guangxi, 19, placed second at 377.5kgs and Huang Zhong of Sichuan third 370kgs.
