Li Shaojie awarded Shandong its sixth gold medal from athletics at the 10th
National Games as he won the men's discus throw Thursday evening.
The 28-year old Li had a winning throw of 62.85 meters for the title, beating
rising star Wu Tao of Liaoning to the second place.
"I am so happy to win the gold tonight. I should thank my coachand family,
without them, I could not go this far in this sport, "said Li.
Wu, 22, failed his first attempt and managed his season best at61.91 meters
in the third try.
"I have chance to win tonight, unfortunately, I did not grab it.But I am
young and I will train harder and come back," said Wu.
The bronze medal went to Nuer Maimai of Xinjiang at 59.60.
