Ten miners die in gas explosion

Ten miners were killed in a gas blast at a coal mine in central China's Hunan
Province on Friday evening, the provincial administration of coal mine
production confirmed on Saturday. The victims' bodies had all been found by
4:30am on Saturday and the local government has started to discuss the
compensation for the victims' families, said Chen Jiankang, head of the
administration's office in Chenzhou City, where the mine is located. Fourteen
miners were working underground when the explosion occurred at 7:49pm on Friday
at the Zhenzhuling Colliery in Chenzhou. Four people escaped from the site, but
10 others died from gas asphyxiation. The cause of the accident is under
investigation.
