Ten miners were confirmed dead after a coal mine was flooded early on Tuesday morning in Shanxi Province, authorities reported yesterday. The accident occurred at an illegal mine in Wangfeng Township, Wanbailin District of Taiyuan, capital of Shanxi Province.

Rescuers recovered all 10 bodies. The mine owner fled. The cause of the accident was not released, but authorities were discussing compensation for families of the victims.
