The manager of a coal mine rocked by a gas blast on Tuesday was removed from his post yesterday. Jingyuan Coal Industry Corp sacked Liu Hanbang, manager of Weijiadi Coal Mine for the past two years.

Jingyuan blamed Liu's poor management for the accident. The blast hit a work platform with 71 workers underground. The accident killed 29 miners.
