Gabonese president arrives in Beijing for China-Africa forum

Gabonese President Omar Bongo Ondimba arrives in Beijing, Oct. 31, 2006. He will attend the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, scheduled on Nov.4-5. -Xinhua

Gabonese President El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba arrived here on Tuesday for the Beijing Summit of the Forum on the China-Africa Cooperation.

The two-day summit is scheduled to commence on Nov. 4. A total of 48 African countries with diplomatic relations with China will send delegations to the summit.

China and Gabon forged diplomatic relations on April 20, 1974. Chinese President Hu Jintao and El Hadj Omar Bongo Ondimba exchanged visits to each other's country in 2004. Bilateral trade totaled 393 million U.S. dollars in 2005.
