China and Togo have made headway in bilateral cooperation in trade and economy, culture and education as well as health sectors, President Hu Jintao told his Togolese counterpart Faure Gnassingbe in Beijing on Monday.

Hu said the consensus reached between China and Togo on cementing their traditional friendship and enhancing substantial cooperation has been "basically put into practice". Two-way trade is expanding rapidly and the two countries have understood and supported each other as usual in international affairs, he said.

China is willing to make concerted efforts with Togo to enhance friendship and expand reciprocal cooperation, he said.

Faure said he cherishes China's support to Togo and the rest of Africa. Such support, be it farming expertise, infrastructure construction, medical services or cultural facilities, has been concrete, he noted.

He expressed his country's confidence in Togo-China friendship and future cooperation, as well as readiness to join China in cementing substantial cooperation and seeking benefits for the two peoples.

Faure arrived here Thursday evening for the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation over the weekend.
