Wu Xiulan, a 92-year-old survivor of the Nanjing Massacre, visits a memorial
hall in the Jiangsu Province capital to mark the 68th anniversary of the
atrocities committed by invading Japanese troops. Japanese soldiers occupied
Nanjing, then the capital of China, on December 13, 1937, and launched a
six-week-long reign of terror. More than 300,000 Chinese, including disarmed
soldiers and civilians, were slaughtered. An expansion project at the memorial
hall broke ground yesterday. - Xinhua
