Over 200 Hong Kong fans went to the Hong Kong International Airport Friday
evening to welcome South Korean star Lee Young-ae, one of the most popular South
Korean stars in Hong Kong.
Lee played the leading role of Jang Geum in Hong Kong's record-breaking South
Korean TV series "Jewel in the Palace," arrived at the Hong Kong International
Airport on Friday evening, escorted by over 50 security guards.
Hong Kong newspapers reported on Saturday that Lee is on a four-day visit to
thank the Hong Kong audience for their support for the drama, which, with the
last episode aired on TVB on May 1, attracted a record of 3 million viewers.
In casual wear of Louis Vuitton, Lee was greeted by the screaming of fans and
a banquet of flower present by two Hong Kong children.
With charming smiles, Lee thanked her fans for their hours waiting at the
airport.
Lee was also welcomed by about 100 media reporters and fans at the Grand
Hyatt Hotel where she resides.
The welcome dinner was held at Grand Hyatt and names of the most dishes are
related to the drama.
A senior manager had gone to South Korea to arrange Lee's visit at the
beginning of this month.
Lee will meet with press and attend a gathering to thank her audience on
Saturday and Sunday apart from attending other promotional activities.
Apart from attracting millions of views, the TV series have also brought
about South Korean tourism and food fever in Hong Kong.
During the four-day Easter Holidays at the end of March, the number of people
visiting South Korea via Hong Kong travel agencies rose by 15 percent to 30
percent. South Korean food also became more popular in Hong Kong.
