Slovenian gas supply fully restored

Slovenia's natural gas supply from Russia, which dropped by a third on
Monday due to a gas price dispute between Russia and Ukraine, has been fully
restored by Tuesday, Slovenian gas company Geoplin said in Ljubljana. "Gas
from Russia is coming in again according to contract and further complications
are not expected at this point," Geoplin CEO Janez Mozina told the Slovene Press
Agency. Monday's gas supply disturbances in Europe were a result of a
Russian-Ukrainian dispute over natural gas prices that prompted Russian
state-run gas company Gazprom to stop delivering natural gas to Ukraine. The gas
cut also affected European countries that receive Russia's gas through Ukraine,
while Gazprom said it was raising exports to make up for the shortfall. As
average outside temperatures in Slovenia on Monday did not drop under 6 degrees
Celsius, Geoplin was able to secure adequately supply its customers with gas,
Mozina said, adding that natural gas accounts for about 15 percent of energy
supply in Slovenia.
