Iran has resumed talks with Russia yesterday in Moscow over a Russia-proposed
compromise plan to defuse the standoff over Iran's nuclear program, an Iranian
official said today.
An Iranian delegation, headed by Seyed Ali Hosseini-Tash, Deputy Secretary of
Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) , has been talking with Russian
officials in Moscow since Monday, said SNSC spokesman Hossein Entezami, quoted
by the official IRNA news agency.
Monday's resumption of nuclear talks came one day after an Iranian diplomat
said that Iran lost interests in the Russian compromise plan.
Earlier on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid- Reza Asefi said
the Russian proposal would no longer be on the agenda of Tehran due to "change
of the situation."
But on Monday, Hossein Entezami, spokesman of the Supreme National Security,
said in light of the new situation, Iran would reconsider a Russian proposal
made to defuse the Iranian nuclear crisis.
Russia proposed last December that Iran transfer its uranium enrichment to
the Russian territory, holding that the offer would secure Iran's legal nuclear
rights while guaranteeing the peaceful use of the technology.
However, earlier talks between Russia and Iran has not produced any
breakthrough.
