Iran again refuses UN call to freeze uranium enrichment
14/4/2006 10:22

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said again that his country would not compromise to the UN demands to suspend the uranium enrichment activities, the official IRNA news agency reported yesterday.

Iran would not negotiate on its rights with anyone, said Ahmadinejad.

"Now the situation is completely changed. We are a nuclear state," he was quoted as saying.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Mohamed ElBaradei arrived in Tehran Thursday morning.

Upon his arrival at the airport, ElBaradei stressed the importance to solve the Iranian nuclear issue through political means and negotiations, urging Iran to re-suspend all activities related to uranium enrichment according to a presidential statement of the UN Security Council.

"My trip is aimed to clarify remaining prominent issues over the Iranian nuclear issue, and I hope that I can persuade Iran to adopt confidence-building measures such as re-suspension of uranium enrichment activities," he said.
