Iran should follow the "six-party"call to stop its uranium enrichment
program, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in Moscow on
Wednesday.
Although no formal decisions were made, "all participants in the meeting
agreed that Iran should take urgent and constructive steps in response to the
International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)Board of Governors resolution," Lavrov
was quoted by the Itar-Tassnews agency as saying.
"It is necessary to give answers to the IAEA questions related to the past
nuclear activity," Lavrov added.
The Moscow meeting, which was attended by deputy foreign ministers of the
five permanent members of the UN Security Council-- the United States, Russia,
China, France and Britain -- and Germany, closed on Tuesday night with no
decisions made.
Lavrov said, "Discussions will be continued in different formats in order to
brief the Iranian leadership on this position and get a response to our calls."
According to Lavrov, "this will open up the way to resume talks on Iran's
nuclear program with respect to the interests of Iran and other members of the
IAEA."
