"Clear and long-term moves" should be adopted by the UN Security Council
(UNSC) on Iranian nuclear issue,Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail
Kamynin said here in an interview published on Friday.
Russia insists a planned UNSC resolution on Iran "clearly prescribe
specific long-term moves so that nobody is able to arbitrarily interpret its
points in their own interest," Kamynin was quoted by the newspaper Vremya
Novostei as saying.
The political directors of the foreign ministries of Russia, the
United States, China, France, Britain and Germany "were unable to work out a
single approach either to the text of the resolution or to its principles at a
meeting in Paris on Tuesday," Kamynin said.
A meeting of the five UNSC permanent members plus Germany broke up in
Paris on Tuesday without reaching agreement on a common stand over Iran.
The United States, Britain and France have circulated a UNSC
resolution demanding that Iran stop its uranium enrichment activity, otherwise
they (UNSC) have indicated they might push for targeted sanctions. The United
State has refused to rule out military action.
Kamynin said that experts are currently drafting the resolution for a
planned meeting of the foreign ministers of those countries to take place in New
York on Monday.
"However, no specific text is on the agenda yet because the positions
of the parties do not coincide except for their basic principles," Kamynin
said.
