Iran denies sending secret message to Bush
18/5/2006 9:45

Iran yesterday denied press report which claimed that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would convey Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's message to his American counterpart.

"The news published by (Turkish) Aksham daily was unfounded and a lie," the official IRNA news agency quoted an informed source at the Iranian Foreign Ministry as saying.

"Ahmadinejad sent no secret message to the U.S. president except his letter," the source said.

Ahmadinejad and Erdogan held meeting during the summit of the eight developing Muslim states (D-8) last week in Indonesia's Bali Island.
