Pakistan and Kuwait Tuesday opposed any confrontation over Iran's nuclear
program and said the issue should be resolved peacefully through dialogue.
The two countries made the announcement in a joint statement issued at the
conclusion of the two-day visit to Islamabad by Kuwaiti Amir
Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Amir.
"They underlined that the resolution of the current issues should be through
dialogue and consultations, giving diplomacy a chance and that confrontation
should be avoided at all costs," the joint statement said.
"Both sides expressed their hope that Iran would positively and carefully
consider the European offer," it said.
The statement said that they took note of the current situation around the
Persian Gulf and stated that while Iran had the right to develop nuclear energy
for peaceful purposes, it should be done in consonance with its international
obligations.
