Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert plans to convene a number of senior
officials to discuss Israel's policy on Washington's proposed sanctions against
Iran, Ha'aretz daily reported yesterday.
According to the report, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, Defense
Minister Amir Peretz and senior members of intelligence establishments will
attend the meeting on Thursday.
Iran's nuclear program has long been considered by Israel as a major threat
to the existence of the Jewish state.
Israel has also blamed Tehran for sponsoring Lebanon's Hezbollah militia,
which had engaged in a month-long conflict withIsrael.
The meeting, the second of its kind, aims to coordinate a "diplomatic foil"
for the so-called Iranian threat, said Ha'aretz.
