The United States said yesterday that it is working with the EU, as well as
China and Russia on the final language of a UN Security Council resolution on
Iran.
"We are working with the EU3 (Britain, France and Germany) partners, as well
as the Chinese and the Russians, in order to reach final language on a
resolution," White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said at a briefing.
"What we do all agree on is that Iran must halt its enrichment and
reprocessing activities. And we'll continue to work on a multilateral approach
to diplomacy and we'll work on final language," Perino said.
The United States has accused Iran of trying to develop nuclear weapons under
the cover of a civilian nuclear program, and has been trying to impose sanctions
on Iran through the UN Security Council. However, Iran has insisted that its
nuclear programs are for peaceful purposes only.
