A spokesman of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) armed wing, said on Thursday that
his movement will not leave the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) alone in
facing Israeli military occupation.
Spokesman of Saraya al-Quds, Abu Ahmed, told reporters in Gaza that the
Islamic Jihad supports the political platform of a Hamas-led cabinet, which
refuses to recognize that the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is the
sole and legitimate representative of the Palestinian people.
The PLO Executive Committee demanded on Wednesday that Hamas adjust its
political platform.
As for the PLO, Abu Ahmed said, "Our position is always clear, it does not
represent the whole Palestinian peoples even if it is considered an important
reference."
He also dismissed reports that Iran exerted pressure on the Islamic Jihad to
support the Hamas-led cabinet despite differences between the two movements in
ideology.
He said that Iran is not related to the Islamic Jihad's stance on supporting
Hamas.
