Palestinian Prime Minister-designate Ismail Haneya expected on Sunday that
his cabinet and its political platform would gain a vote of confidence in the
Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) on Monday.
Haneya made the comments after meeting with Arab and
foreign journalists at his office in Gaza, where he said that he expected his
cabinet would gain a confidence vote in Monday's PLC meeting.
The PLC, which Hamas overwhelms after a January election, will hold a special
session on Monday when Haneya would present his cabinet as well as its
political, economical and security platforms for a confidence vote.
It seems certain that Haneya's cabinet would get a confidence vote since his
Hamas group has a majority of 74 seats in the 132-member legislature, even if
the entire non-Hamas members vote against it.
Haneya asserted that his cabinet would stress on keeping the Palestinian
rights and strengthening the political partnership during Monday's session.
