Incoming Prime Minister Ismail Haneya presented yesterday the program of his
Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas)-led cabinet before the members of the
Palestinian Legislative Council (PLC) for approval.
Haneya read a long statement that included his cabinet's program, which
focused on political, economical, security and social issues.
He denounced that the Israeli occupation carries out its escalated attacks
and insists on keeping the whole region in circle of blood conflict aiming at
sending a message to the Palestinian people, adding you were mistaken in your
choice and you must be punished.
We warn of the consequences of such policies. The Palestinian people must not
be punished for practicing their right in choosing their leaders via democratic
elections, in which the whole world examined its fairness, said Haneya.
He added that his cabinet would lead the Palestinian people to the free
living.
The prime minister-designated said he presents his cabinet's platform before
the PLC hoping to gain its confidence to start carrying out the texts of the
cabinet's platform that promised the people to regain their rights and achieving
security for them.
He said that his cabinet faces serious challenges represented by the
occupation and its procedures against the people, achieving security and ending
chaos in the Palestinian territories.
Dealing with the difficult economic situations, Haneya said that carrying out
reforms, preparing the internal Palestinian home and rebuilding the Palestinian
institutions on democratic basis achieves political partnership for all.
Haneya said his cabinet gives a priority to advance with the national
economy, encouraging the productive economic sections and supporting the
national products by all means.
The cabinet also highlighted the importance to develop the economic and
commercial ties with the Arab world and Islamic nations, and encourage the
direct ties with the European Union and other world countries, he added.
Haneya, meanwhile, promised that his cabinet would protect the Palestinians'
right in defending themselves in confronting the occupation, removing
settlements and separation apartheid wall, and continuing their struggle till
establishing an independent Palestinian state under sovereignty with Jerusalem
its capital.
"Our cabinet will work on developing the security apparatuses performance,
strengthening its role as it's considered responsible for protecting our people
and restoring their security as well as protecting the jurisdiction of law,"
Haneya pledged.
He added that his government is committed to protecting the Palestinian
democracy and strengthening partnership and political pluralism.
