Palestinian Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri accused on Saturday some
"internal elements" of joining a conspiracy of trying to topple the Hamas-led
cabinet. During a public meeting along with other Hamas local officials at a
southern Gaza Strip, Abu Zuhri accused that some internal elements are joining
"an Israeli- American conspiracy aims at weakening the Hamas-led
government." "The government would be able to overcome the obstacles as the
Palestinian people have the support of the Arab and Islamic world, " the
spokesman vowed. However, he did not name specific what the "internal
elements" were. Abu Zuhri declared that the economic siege imposed on the
Palestinians would collapse, warning that "some parties are trying to create
further problems in spite of the fact that the financial problems are to be
solved. Since coming to power, the Hamas-led government has been challenged
by a severe financial crisis after international fund was cut off due to its
rejection to meet western requirements of renouncing violence and recognizing
Israel. Meanwhile, relations between the Hamas-led cabinet and Palestinian
leader Mahmoud Abbas have been worsened over the weekend after Abbas vetoed a
Hamas decision to form a new security force and Hamas leader accused Abbas and
his Fatah movement of corruption.
