Brazils national football team striker Ronaldo had a fever today and did
not participate in Brazils open practice at the Kickers Stadium, in Offenbach,
Germany. According to Brazils medical staff, the strikers condition is not
serious and he is expected to be able to play in Brazils World Cup opening match
against Croatia on June 13, in Berlin. Ronaldo has been medicated and rested
during the afternoon in the hotel in Konigstein, where the team is
based. Ronaldos fever case was the players second health problem in the last
few days. On Sunday, June 4, during a friendly match against New Zealand, the
player complained about pain caused by blisters on both his heels. The
Brazilian teams physician Jose Luiz Runco said the blisters have healed.
Ronaldo's blister issue, which made headlines all over the world, even inspired
an ad campaign of Johnson & Johnsons bandage Band Aid in the Brazilian
media. The campaign featured a Brazilian team T-shirt with a number 9
(Ronaldo's T-shirt) with a Band Aid on the lower end of the 9 and the slogan "If
it is up to us, he will be scoring goals even with his
heels".
