Pekerman: We accomplish our objective
11/6/2006 10:52

Argentina coach Jose Pekerman said after his victory Saturday in Hamburg that his team accomplished the objective fixed before the game.
Argentina and Cote d'Ivoire presented on Saturday a spectacular game in the first encounter of the so-called "Group of Death". Argentina won the battle 2-1.
During an after-match press conference, Pekerman said Cote d'Ivoire was an important adversary and couldn't be considered as a debutant of the FIFA World Cup.
He explained his team concentrated a defensive system in the last ten minutes of game because Cote d'Ivoire has sent several forwards. "We should not take risk," he said.
"We accomplished our objective. It's a collective victory. Our defensive strategy has worked," he added.
Argentina will play a next game against Serbia and Montenegro on June 16.
