Cafu: "I will only worry about forgery charges after the Cup"

Brazil's national team captain Cafu said on Monday he is not worried about
being arrested, after Italian District Attorney charged the player and his wife
Regina Feliciano to nine months in prison for forging documents to acquire
Italian passports. "Now I'll only worry about Croatia," said the Brazilian
defender, mentioning Brazil's first opponent in the World Cup. "I'll only think
about this issue after the World Cup," said the player, adding that the Italian
police still had not notified him or his lawyers about the issue. Italian
District Attorney also charged Roma Football Club's President Franco Sensi and
Argentinean player Gustavo Bartelt. In 2003, Italian Justice had absolved the
four people that are being prosecuted now from the same charges due to lack of
evidence. In 2004, the case was reopened and Cafu had to present himself in
front of a judge again, but no other conclusion was taken. Several other
players, especially from Brazil and Argentina, were also charged at the time but
nothing was proved. Brazil's head coach Carlos Alberto Parreira said he
talked to the player and confirmed that the defender was not upset by the news.
He added that it was very strange that the news came out just before Brazil's
first game. "We have been preparing for four weeks and this only came out
now. If it was meant to weaken us, it will not achieve its goal," he said.
