Maradona has lunch with Argentina national team

Diego Maradona, soccer star of the 1980s and 1990s, paid a surprise visit
to the Argentine national team on Monday, at their trainining ground in
Herzogenaurach, some 20km from Nuremberg, according to reports reaching Buenos
Aires. Maradona had lunch with the Argentina team at the HerzogsPark Hotel
alongside his ex-wife Claudia Villafane and his eldest daughter Giannina. He was
received by national team manager Jose Pekerman, who had promised the team a
visit from Maradona as part of the morale building measures for the team in
Germany's 2006 World Cup. Maradona and his family had been in the crowd on
Saturday when Argentina beat Cote d'Ivorie 2-1, their first match as part of
Group C in the Cup. Argentina's next match is versus Serbia and Montenegro in
Gelsenkirchner on Friday. The Netherlands, also in Group C, will play Cote
d'Ivorie Ivory Coast in Stuttgart.
