Angola's midfield Figueiredo vowed to beat Mexico in Friday's game, saying
the team still maintained their dignity despite a 1-0 loss to Portugal in their
opening World Cup game on Sunday. "We want to win the game against MexiCo
They are a very strong team, on a par with Portugal, and we respect them, but we
don't want another moral victory, we want a real victory with three points,"
Figueiredo said. Figueiredo thought his team will do better on Friday after
their debutante with Portugal. "This performance has given us confidence for
the next game. Even though it was a defeat, I think we will be a little more
ambitious, a little more positive in the next game against Mexico, " he
added. Goalkeeper Joao Ricardo echoed with Figueiredo, saying his teammates
were slightly unnerved by the historic nature of the game. "Maybe we were a
little bit nervous in that game. It was a huge occasion for us," he
said. "Not all our players are used to performing in such conditions, " said
Ricardo.
