Brazilian city roots for Tunisia at World Cup
15/6/2006 15:31

Brazilian city Ze Doca cheered for Tunisia's 2-2 draw with Saudi Arabia in the World Cup finals in Germany on Wednesday.
Ze Doca, in the northeastern Brazilian state of Maranhao, 350 km away from state capital Sao Luis, was the birthplace of Francileudo dos Santos Silva, better known as Santos, the greatest star of the Tunisian national team.
The 27-year-old Santos, who plays for the French club Toulouse, is not only the idol of the Tunisian team but also one of the idols of young dreamers of Ze Doca, which was inhabited by 51,000 people.
At 17, Santos went to play for Brazilian club Sampaio Correa. From there he went straight to Belgium, where he played for Standard Liege. But it was in Tunisia that Santos could show all his football, especially when he scored 32 goals in two seasons for team Etoile du Sahel.
Santos naturalized himself Tunisian in 2003.
