Sweden coach Lars Lagerback praised Paraguay, the South-American team sent
home 0-1 by his men on Thursday in Berlin.
"It was a really good team effort from us tonight. I have a lot of respect
for the Paraguay team but we created more goalscoring chances," said Lagerback
during an after-match press conference.
"Of course there is relief, but the players did a marvellous job and deserved
to win," he admitted after his team winning an important game.
"Of course it's always frustrating when you're sitting on the bench and so
many chances are being wasted, but it would have been worse if we weren't
playing well and weren't creating any chances," said him.
In the last minute of regular time, Freddie Ljungberg popped up at the far
post to head home after teammate Marcus Allback put a center back across goal.
It's the first goal for Sweden team on FIFA World Cup Germany 2006.
"If you don't score goals, there are generally two reasons. One is that you
are not doing well enough with your chances and the other, which was also true,
is that the other team is working very hard," added Lagerback.
