Talented teenage striker Lionel Messi has been cleared of a new injury worry
and called up for Argentina's Group C clash in the World Cup against Serbia and
Montenegro in Gelsenkirchen on Friday.
The wonder kid of Barcelona, who just recovered from a lengthy thigh injury,
was injured again in Wednesday's training on duty at the World Cup camp of
Argentina.
He picked up a slight injury in his left foot after a nasty fall and had to
stop training.
Coach Jose Pekerman, however, featured Messi for the SCG match, which could
see Argentina book their passage into the knock-out phase of the tournament,
naming him to the starting list released on Thursday to end up the Barcelona
star youngster's long wait for his World Cup debut.
Messi, 18, has been struggling for the past three months with at high injury
and missed the national side's 2-1 victory at their first World Cup match with
Cote d'Ivoire last Saturday.
