Veteren winger Roberto Carlos from Brazil's national soccer team was
jeered by angry fans on Sunday as he left his hotel, the Arabella Sheraton Grand
Hotel, in Frankfurt, on-line portal Terra said yesterday.
Fans booed Carlos and called out that he had shamed the country.
The player needed a security team to leave the hotel grounds and take a taxi
to the airport, where he will take a plane to Madrid. Carlos has played for Real
Madrid for 10 years.
Brazilian press have blamed Roberto Carlos for Brazil's 1-0 loss to France,
which led to their exit from the World Cup competition. Carlos's job was marking
French forward, Thierry Henri, but when Henry scored his goal, Carlos was too
busy adjusting his socks to tackle him.
