Argentine press mocks exit of Brazil, England
3/7/2006 10:01

The Argentine press cheered yesterday, a day after both England and Brazil were eliminated from soccer's World Cup.

Sports daily Ole ran a front page photo of Brazilian soccer stars Ronaldo Nazario and Ronaldo de Assis looking depressed, with France's Zinedine Zidane looking as though he is laughing.

"Brazil is a mess, at team ... whose deputy manager is a great-grandfather babbling drivel," the paper said.

The newspaper headlined the story of England's defeat at Portugal with "Pirates Overboard".

Other newspaper headlines include: "Brazil cries and so does England", from Popular; "What a shame mate", from Cronica; "KO to the Champion", from La Nacion; and "Brazil and England both out", from Clarin.
