Ronaldo claims no animosity with Man. United teammate Rooney

Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted that there was no
hostility between him and Wayne Rooney following the England striker's
sending-off at the World Cup. Ronaldo appeared to have encouraged Argentine
referee Horacio Elizondo to show Rooney a red card after his Manchester United
teammate stamped on Portuguese defender Ricardo Carvalho in Saturday's match,
which England lost 3-1 on penalties. British press had reported that Rooney
was infuriated by Ronaldo's actions as tabloid The Sun said the irate England
star would "split him in two" when they meet again. But Ronaldo told his
agent's Web site www.gestifute.com that they are still on good terms. "There
is no problem at all between me and Rooney. I insist: no problem at all. At the
end of the game, we exchanged a series of text messages just as we had on the
day before. This reinforces that I have a fine relationship with
Rooney." "He(Rooney) told me to ignore the things written in the English
press on this subject, they only want to stir things up." Ronaldo also denied
he was to blame for trying to influence the referee's decision. "I am not the
referee with the power to send off anyone I want, nor do I have the ability to
convince him to show cards."said Ronaldo.
