German striker Miroslav Klose said in Dortmund yesterday that the team
will fight to win the third place of the World Cup. After the 2-0 loss to
Italy, Germany, who had collected three World Cup titles, had to travel to
Stuttgart for the third-place playoff on July 8 against the loser of
France-Portugal duel. Klose currently leads the race for the World Cup golden
boot with five goals. He said that Germany have a bright future on the
international stage. "I think we can be proud of this team," said the
striker. "We have a lot of young players and I think we have a future. Both
sides had shots on goal and chances to win it. "Compliments to the Italians,
they took advantage of their fast breaks. But now we want to win the game for
third place." he said.
